Yes you could give the argument that your using the schools computer or the one at the library, but you still ain’t poor because your community can afford the luxery and share it with you. That gives you the advantage. So go out learn what poor is, learn about black culture and racism in the south. Today, in my first day of ” The History of Race and Racism in the United States” class, we were assigned to write about the potential race issues having to do with hurrican Katrina. Ok, I’ll admit it, i’m a middle class white american guy and I go to a private boarding school, and also, I know that many of the people suffering in the area are less fortunate, but I really don’t see why so many people are continuesly ranting on about how this is all president Bush’s fault. There simply was no way help could have arrived sooner,it wasn’t like the hurricane simply ended once it hit land. Also, I keep on hearing people go on about how they think the slight delay was a cause of the war in Iraq; This is the United States of America, we, as well as President Bush, are not stupid enough to not have enough troops and aid available here at home. We have PLENTY of recources to get through this. The comment made by Kanye West makes me sick, but its important for all of us to put away our issues of race, becuase there simply isn’t one. We all got through 9/11, and with 9/11 came positive things; Home Land Security. Polititians may be getting crap from everyone right now, but come next hurricane,people are going to be more prepared, and know to get through a natural disaster better. I know I cannot complain, I’m not over there volunteering, and neither are you “Forbin”, but president Bush is, is he supposed to do better with us giving him constant negativity and complaining about everything he does because some of us don’t feel that it is “good enough”?

Instead of getting his ass back to Washington, rallying the troops and getting something done. God forbid he looses a few vacation days. Venezuelan president Hugo Chavez offers to give us oil on the condition that it could not go through political channels for profit. And the “Bush” machine turned it down. And again, incase your spoiled little ass did not know, we get about 30% of our oil from there. But back on the topic, Bush does care about black people; look at his secretary of state, as well as the one before that. I agree with “ny” on the race card issue and i know that if the situation was flipped around and majority of the population was white, help would have arrived at the same time. This is only a race issue becuase the popular race down there are blacks and for every struggle that occurs, some are going to pull the race card and point the finger at the easiest person; the president. Don’t get me wrong, I actually do not like bush or support many of his ideas, but my point is to not just blame the president for EVERYTHING and give him maybe a little support instead of whining and bitching like dumb ass “mark” (michael moores bitch). Here’s a radical idea maybe the planning and execution in general was horrible. That no matter who it was that was hit by this hurricane were going to be screwed for 5-6 days because the governments as a whole did not prepare for something like this. Is it completely out of the realm of possibilities that the people in charge of the rescue option were inept not malicous?

I’m so glad that Kanye West said something about President Bush because there is no reason that it should have taken so long to get help to the people that needed it. The fact is that I’m pretty sure that a golf game could have waited until the business that he should have really been doing was done. I don’t think that President Bush only dislikes black people, I think he dislikes everyone. Only people that can make him look good are people that he cares about. After Katrina he waited 4 days to do something then he goes down there hugs a few black and poor people and gets the hell outta there. But what the media isn’t telling you is that a SWAT mission was set up to get a wife and close relative of a police officer out of the Convention Center. They went in surrounded the women gave them food and water (infront of everyone) and took them out. And to help Kanye out in proving his statement, these women were white

I use to like kanye’s music until his ignorant comments! Nobody was ready for a hurricane like that, but people always have to blame somebody to make them feel better. I bet next time people will leave when they are instructed to. Everybody had plenty of time to leave so i dont blame anybody but the ones who decided to stay and ride it out so they call it. If it meant life or death for me then i think i would do what ever i could to get out of harms way!

today the race issue might not be a problem, though constitutionally blacks and other minorities are equal to whites. but the results of this issue are whereever as you can see. nowaday you cant feed your family by running a farm as you need to obtain loads of things to get your family round the day. see there might be white people who are poor but they are not gonna be dissed for their skincolor, at least not generally. its unbelievable but according to a survey the majority of whites believe black people are inferior. when the majorty believes you are inferior who’s got the bad cards?

I am white and I am not poor, It’s obvious, because as was mentioned earlier in a comment, I am using a computer, and I have an internet connection, pretty damn lucky of me to have it. The point is, I am a 17 year old white girl and even ~I~ know that George Bush doesn’t give two shits about the black community, or for that matter most of the whites or hispanics or ANYONE ELSE who is not WELL OFF. I am lucky, I’m not poor and I’m white, so I’m ok, I was born into this, lucky me. when my family evacuated the day after the storm we went to my Grandma’s house and watched the news. the most we saw was the Hard Rock Cafe, and then it was back to New Orleans.
